New Construction

Building a new home is great with one exception. It often leaves you with a cookie cutter builder’s package for your garden. Our clients wanted not only a dream home, but a dream garden.

We started by planting evergreens for winter structure and filled in with plants and shrubs that would have interest year-round.  Edges of the property were softened with layers of plantings incorporating rich shades of wine and copper. A stone retaining wall with lush plantings on top took the place of a fence. The specimen Paperbark  Maple (acer griseum) was planted to be viewed from the family room; its peeling bark is backlit by the setting afternoon sun.
